Mindy & Greg – Houston Engagement Photography

Not to long ago, Mindy and Greg met me at Discovery Green for what turned out to be a great engagement session. It’s awesome to work with couples during such a “luvy dubby” (ya I went there) time in their relationship. Mindy’s eyes have so much emotion in them. She clearly knew what exactly how she wanted to look in her engagement photos and she WORKED IT. I only gave her minimum coaching and let my shutter just go. Greg took a little work but with a few tips, we loosened his hips and really cranked out some fantastic images.

When Mindy and Greg went to do a quick wardrobe change, this guy somehow got my attention. As he was clearly striking his best pose, I obliged and took this photo. It would have been even better if he’d given me a view of those yellow/brown acorn chompin teeth.

Emily & Chris – Houston Engagement Photography

If Chris looks familiar, its because many of you saw him as a groomsman at Chad and Katie’s wedding a few posts back. Chris and Chad lived together and were in the same fraternity at Baylor University. I can’t remember exactly how I met both of them but me and my roommate lived across the parking lot in the same condominiums. We have a lot in common so it’s no wonder we’ve stayed connected to this day. Along with Chad and myself, I think Chris would agree that those were the best days of our lives.

I met Emily when she attended Chad’s wedding as Chris’ date. She is extremely funny and great to be around. As we drove from Austin, I joked with my wife that Chris and Emily would soon be getting engaged. HA! Two weeks later, I see and RSS update from Emily’s blog One Day at a Time where she was glowing with excitement. Chris proposed while on their annual trip to Scottsdale, Arizona.

If you get the chance, read through Emily’s blog. They’ve been engaged for a month and Emily has been on top of every detail! I’ve never seen (or heard) of anything like it. If I know Chris, he is doing his best to hang on for the ride.

As part of that ride, the two of them drove down from Dallas to Houston last Saturday for their engagement photos. Emily chose me for their engagement photography after I posted an image of the two of them from Chad’s wedding. We went out to Rice University in Houston where we found a wealth of amazing backdrops. While at my house the night before, we chatted about what they were looking to get out of their engagement session. I was convinced that I would have to slowly warm the two of them up to get some interesting shots for their engagement session. WRONG! Chris took complete control; positioning and posing Emily, telling me how he wanted his backgrounds to “properly fade” (Bokeh for the photographers out there) and finding quite a few unique settings. Part of it probably had to do with his comfort level, but the other part is talent. Chris aka Cousin might have a new calling!

Ohh…I forgot to mention, they’ll be getting married in the Dominican Republic! Its going to be an absolute BLAST!

Megan & Joe – Houston Texas Engagement Photography

Megan and Joe get the privilege of having their engagement session appear first on my new blog.
About a month ago, I was at my 9-5 waiting for the afternoon tardy bell to ring (At 4:30 there is a mad dash for the door) when I ran across my friend Megan’s facebook page. To my surprise, it said ENGAGED! I say surprised because my invitation had not yet arrived in the mail. As a photographer, I’m always looking for an opportunity to take pictures of attractive people so I had to get Megan to join me for a session.

I sent Megan an email and inquired about her photography plans for the wedding. She had already hired Janet Roe Photography to do her wedding but no one was on board to do the engagement photos. With facebook and other forms of social media combined with wedding websites, save the date cards and invitations, engagement photos are essential these days. Needless to say, I was ecstatic when Megan and Joe picked Jonathan L. Golden Photography to be a part of this very important moment in their lives.

We started at Herman Park in Houston, Texas and made our way to the Japanese Garden’s. After getting some great photo’s in the park, we drove the the Houston Galleria and got some more great shots at The Williams Tower.
