Texas Drought 2011 – No Rain in Sight
I've heard weather forecasters talk about Texas drought conditions several times in my life but never for this long. The whole ecosystem is being thrown off by the lack of water. We've had possums in our flower beds earlier in the evening and later into the morning consistently as the drought has continued. As much as I hate mosquitoes, the pesky insects play a part in the ecosystem. When they don't show up for a whole year, there has to be a negative impact on the ecosystem. I knew I had to document the landscape of the Texas Drought...

As a three time cancer survivor, Deborah is one of the strongest women I have ever met. She is so upbeat, energetic and always willing to help a neighbor out. Deborah grew up in a home in Houston where family photography was and still is very important. She has told me of 40" x 60" prints of her parents that the family still values as treasured possessions. After investing in a 24" x 36" canvas photograph from her session, Deborah's legacy is solidly in place for many generations to come. Deborah is the member of many non-profit groups in the...

If you don't mind me asking, what do you have on the walls of your home? Mounted posters of vintage french food or liquor ads from Z-Gallery? Various Tchotchke's from far-flung corners of the world? Framed reproductions of famous paintings? Even better, I'm sure some have real oil paintings? The point is, you probably have some adequately-sized art work on your wall of varying cost and quality. What matters to you is what this artwork says about who you are and, more importantly, the memories and happy thoughts these pieces bring to...

Our good friends, Emily and Damon live a great life right outside downtown Houston. Together with their dog Henry, they live comfortably in a beautifully decorated home. In fact, their home is one of the best decorated places I've ever seen. The art on the walls is extremely interesting, modern and really fits their personalities. Emily and Damon both love to cook and entertain. One of the best nights of my married life came when we drank wine late into the night and laughed until our stomachs hurt. Emily and Damon contacted me as a Houston...

A couple of weeks ago I posted the photographs from April and Ron's Sugar Land Engagement Session. Little did I know that the day after I posted the photographs, my Aunt was sitting in an event planning meeting where the committee for The Fort Bend Church was working on the 7th anniversary festivities. My name came up and when the planning director went to my website the first post she saw was of Ron and April. Ron and April attend the Fort Bend Church and the planning director knows them. The connection was made and she inquired about our...

As a photographer I am always looking to take a trip either walking, driving or flying to capture new locations. Houston is a fantastic place to capture photographs. Born and raised in Houston, I love the artist vibe that the city has taken on over the years. From Montrose to the Theater District to Rice Village, the possibilities for creating unique photographs are endless. That being said, some good friends of ours made their union official in Boston. I was blessed enough to be asked to document this special time in Courtney and Greg's...

I have a lot of great photographs that I will be sharing in upcoming blog posts but I want to drop a quick note thanking all of the fantastic clients I have had the opportunity to work with as a photographer in Houston. The good Lord has continued to bless me and is the reason for my continued growth as a photographer. From the families who have taken me to the locations that emotionally connect them to the brides and grooms who have spent one of their most sacred days with me, Thank you. This weekend, in addition to covering the photography...

Kaitlyn, a passionate student of art, currently studies at the Artists' Alliance, a fantastic place to take classes and develop creativity. Without a doubt, a strong art program was a key component of her college decision. When Kaitlyn heads off to school this fall, she will be focusing on her art with the goal of turning her passion into a profession. As a full time artist, I will be her biggest cheerleader. It is my personal opinion that there is no better way to make a living. The painting in the first two images is her most recent work....

Ron was one of the first people to step up to Mr. and Mrs. Golden and take a young "up and coming" freshman Jonathan out when we were in High School. Some of my best memories were riding in his car, jamming Timberland and Magoo. After the last verse, I remember Ron being so hype that he would always bust into a freestyle during the outro. This was a stressful time for me since I do not sing or "freestyle" in front of people (only in the shower). He would always leave 10-15 seconds for me to get a few bars in but I would always stumble over...
